President of Goa Football Association, Elvis Gomes congratulating the team stated, “FC Goa has shown that playing beautiful football is still in fashion and can be rewarding. All FC Goa games are a treat to watch and credit should go to the team management for sticking to this attacking style of play. Importantly, Zico has given sufficient playing time to all their players, and the fact that the team has eight Goans in its ranks has endeared the team to the public. Zico has shown us that Goans do not lag behind, and if given the right exposure and encouragement can outshine even the best in the business on their day.”
The Vice President of Goa Football Association representing the clubs of North Goa, Lavinio Rebello added, “What we are seeing in the stadiums at the home games of FC Goa is an expression of the love and affection Goans have for the game of football and FC Goa have to be given full credit for rising to the expectations and responding so spectacularly. The fan base cuts across all age and class barriers and this is a good sign for football. Let us hope this only gets bigger from here.”
GFA Vice-President (South), Schubert Furtado, said, “FC Goa’s success has been very heartwarming for all Goans, especially given the fact that home games have seen tremendous fan engagement. We hope that the team will go on to win the title and a strong brand entity built around Goa and football will emerge as a result of its performances, which will be backed to the hilt by the football loving public of Goa.”
