It is also learnt that shifting of the Goa Football Association office to another premises is also on the cards. The present office is believed to be congested due to lack of space making administrative work uncomfortable.
Meanwhile, Goan football emerged the winner at Goa Development Football Council’s second year anniversary celebrations.
Eight members of the Goa Football Association made their presence and participated in the celebrations breathing fresh air into the otherwise strained relationship between the GFA and GDFC.
Goa’s football officials who attended the celebrations were Vice-President (South) Schubert Furtado (brother to Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado), John Silva (brother to Velim MLA Benjamin Silva), Bishut Themudo Arnaldo Costa, Anthony Leo Fernandes alias Mam, Anthony Pango (all Salcete) Patrick D’Souza (Bardez) and Jose Welvin Menezes (Ilhas).
Elvis Gomes informed Herald that he personally invited all elected members of the Goa Football Association via sms.
“Sunday being the elections and Tuesday the function, Monday was the only day left to invite – thus sms the only option,” he said.
Three members from Bardez had on Monday conveyed to Gomes their inability to make it for the function.
Dominic Pereira was down with influenza while Raju Benaulikar had a family pooja to attend to. Francis Veigas was indisposed.
However, the writing is crystal clear on the wall. Football has won. The gap has been bridged and Goan football is set to go places, with both GFA and GFDC set to work hand in hand.
