PANJIM: The Goa Football Development Council in association with Boca Juniors Football School, Bangalore, India organised the Boca Juniors, GFDC Summer Football League for Boca Juniors and GFDC teams in Goa in the Under-10 and Under-12 boys category.
The Tournament consisted of four teams in each category; for U-10 Boys category, one team from Boca Juniors, Bangalore and three from GFDC centres namely Quepem, Arambol and Sanquelim participated in the tournament.
In the U-12 Boys one team from Boca Juniors Bangalore and three from GFDC centres namely Aldona, Siolim and Socorro participated in the league. In the U-12 Boys category GFDC Aldona were the winners emerging on top of all their matches with Boca Juniors Bangalore eventual runners-up.
In the U-10 Boys category, GFDC Arambol were the winners winning all their matches and GFDC Sanquelim were the runners-up.
Chief Guest for the finals MLA Glen Ticlo, expressed happiness that football was being developed so well all over Goa through GFDC .
Chairman GFDC , Dr. Rufino Monteiro , explained the importance of competitions in the development of football talent and hoped this football league will grow bigger and better in the years to come . Petros Sideris , technical director of the Boca Juniors Academy praised the Goan boys for their talent and said he and his boys were happy to be in Goa for the tournament whilst empasising the need to build up this Boca Juniors GFDC tournament . Technical Officer-in-charge of GFDC Derryl D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
