GFDC celebrate Women’s Day

PANJIM: The Goa Football Development Council celebrated Women's Day at Navelim Rosary ground, recently.

Shanti Mullick, India’s only woman footballer Arjuna Awardee and former India Woman’s football captain was the chief guest.
In the first match, GFDC girls academy South beat GFDC girls academy North 2-0 with goals from Julianda Ferrao and Cia Almeida.
In the second match, GFDC Women’s XI defeated Rest of Goa XI 2-1. Remediana Noronha and Gracy D’Costa netted for GFDC and Melvita Mascarenhas for Rest of Goa)
GFDC felicitated Shanti Mullick, Liberata Mascarenhas, Maria Rebello and Maymol Rocky for their achievements in football.
Mullick was humbled and honoured on being felicitated and thanked GFDC for their efforts in developing football for women in the State. She further reminisced her playing days where Goa Women’s team was the toughest opponent to play against and the final that she lost to the Goan team when played in Goa against players like Yoldanda, Julie and Ritinha. She hoped more girls to take up football with organization of more competitions. 
Also present were GFDC Chairman, Dr Rufino Monteiro; Member Secretary, Aleixo Da Costa; Council Members Agnelo Fonseca, Stanislaus D’Souza and Sheikh Suleman Karol.
