GFDC distributes kit at Savoi Verem

PANJIM: The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) distributed football kit to over hundred boys and girls at their Savoi Verem training centre, recently.

GFDC chairman Dr Rufino Monteiro distributed the kit along with council members Agnelo Fonseca and Shantaram Naik.
Urging the trainees to be regularly, Dr Monteiro stressed on Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s emphasis to harness natural Goan talent to represent the National football teams.
“I have to thank all the parents gathered here for encouraging their children in this sport which arouses our passion. It is not just about playing but studying well too and not only being great footballers but getting into other football related occupations,” stated Dr Monteiro.
Congratulating the three children selected from Savoi Verem for the pre-academies, Dr Monteiro asked the children gathered “to give learning football a due place in their curriculum. Football helps in all round development as well maintaining good health,” emphasised Dr Rufino.
“GFDC is out to genuinely help every football loving Goan. The scope is vast but we are getting there,” stated council member Shantaram Naik. “Parents play a big role in grooming their kid’s future. I thank you all for helping your children in achieving their dreams,” stated Agnelo Fonseca in his brief interlude with the parents and the trainees.
Former Air India, Salgaocar and Goa Police footballer Rajaram Verekar, a native of Savoi-Verem was also felicitated by Dr Monteiro at the event.
Then, prizes were also given away to the children who won the different competitions organised to celebrate GFDC’s second anniversary.
