MAPUSA: Don Bosco High School, Panjim thumped SFX High School, Siolim 4-1 to emerge champions of North District under-14 boys Subroto Mukerjee football tournament organized by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at Tivim ground, on Saturday. The Panjim school led 3-1 at half time.
Shanon and Aman scored a brace each for the Panjim-outfit after Prakshay had given SFX Siolim an early lead.
SFX stunned their opponents by taking the lead in the very first minute through a sensational solo effort by Prakshay Simepuraskar, who made a daunting run inside the rival territory and slotted past the rival keeper.
However, Don Bosco regrouped quickly and within minutes equalized through a deft placement by Shanon Viegas.
As the match progressed, the clash between the Tiswadi and Bardez champs became frantic with the teams coming close to scoring on some occasions.
However, it was Don Bosco that established their supremacy with good short passes in the midfield which eventually created a good opening for Aman Govekar inside the 18-yard box and the striker kept his cool to put his team ahead for the very first time.
Subsequently, Don Bosco carried with the same spirit and it was Aman yet again who scored before the break with a sublime finish.
Post resumption, the Siolim school tried hard to crawl back into the match but the rival defence did not allow their strikers to operate with ease. So also, it was physical hard for the young boys, who had played their semi-final match, on Friday.
At the other hand, Don Bosco showed no signs of tiredness although they also  played the previous day.
Midway, Shanon put the issue beyond doubt by securing his brace as the score line read 4-1 at the end of the regulation time.
Don Bosco are trained by their PE teacher, Francis Raposo.
They will now take on the South District champions in the coming days.
