GFDC plan on opening 3 more centres

The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) plan on opening three more centres next month and thereafter hold inter-centre games to judge the performance of each centre and select the team to represent the State at the National level, stated Dr Rufino Monteiro, chairman of GFDC at the kit distribution function of their Valpoi centre at Unity Multipurpose Hall, here, Wednesday.

“Valpoi is our largest centre (with 240 trainees) among our seven centres and it is doing well,” disclosed Dr Rufino.

Dr Rufino also informed that the trainees were being examined by nutritionists periodically. He appreciated the coaches for their dedicated work. He also praised Sulaiman Karol and Mustufa Aga for the development of GFDC centre at Valpoi.

Valpoi Municipal Council Chairperson Ramdas Shirodkar who was the chief guest, while congratulating GFDC assured to take up the matter with the Government as regards to the development of the grounds at Valpoi (VMC ground and Nanus ground).

Chairman of Unity HS and GFDC member Shaikh Sulaiman Karol and Valpoi centre in-charge Mustufa Aga also spoke.
