MAPUSA: Goa booked their place into final of the 61th School National Football Championship 2016 underway at Telangana, with a well deserved 2-0 win over Uttar Pradesh in the semi-final, on Saturday.

Goa highest scorer of the tournament Stendly Fernandes opened the account for his team with a neat placement while Ribhav Sardesai doubled their lead with a scorching right footer.
Earlier, Goa, who were placed in Group F with Kerala, IPSC (Delhi) and Meghalaya, won against Kerala 1-0 goal with Stendly scoring the match-winner. Against Meghalaya 2-0. Stendly and Nikil Gurung netted one each. Thrashed IPSC 4-0. Stendly scored a brace, Boris De Mello and Savelon Cardozo netted one each to qualify for the quarters.
In the quarters, Goa scored a solitary goal victory over MP with Aaron Alvares netting in. 
Coach Marcelino Pereira and Manager Johnson D’Souza said the team played like a well combined unit and they stuck to the team’s plan, as they had to play two matches on a single day, yet they kept on their consistency.
