Javed Goa Racing coach
PANJIM (HSD) — Twenty-two riders were selected by Gomes Sports Academy at a largely attended meeting on Sunday at Davorlim. Javed Sheikh was selected to be the coach for team Goa Racing, with Shakil Ahmed as riders’ spokesperson South Goa and Laxman Salgoankar North Goa, Sydney Soares as team manager, Richard Pereira as Technical Head and Nirshad Khan as Team Mechanic, with Stanley Remedious as secretary, and Uday Arolkar and Valerian D’Souza as team coordinators. 7-a-side at Curtorim
PANJIM (HSD) – Carmel Youth Association, Curtorim will organise their 4th 1-day All-Goa inter-Parish Youth 7-a-side mini-lighting soccer tournament on January 16 at Carmel chapel ground, Curtorim at 9.30 a.m. The winners and runners-up will walk away with Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. 3-a-side at Britona
PANJIM (HSD) – The Parish Youth of Penha de Franca will organise an all-Goa 3-a-side football tie-breaker tournament on January 16 at Penha de Franca church ground, Britona from 11 a.m. The winners and runners-up will be awarded Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively. Germania cricket trophy
PANJIM (HSD) – The Panjim Gymkhana will organise their All-Goa inter-school Germania Trophy cricket tournament from January 23 at Bandodkar ground, Campal. Boys born on or after 1/9/1994 are eligible. Entries may be submitted at the Panjim Gymkhana office. Last date for submitting entries is January 18.
6-a-side at Gaundalim
PANJIM (HSD) – St Braz Boys Gaundalim, Old Goa will organise their 3rd 6-a-side football tournament on January 16 and 23 at 9 a.m. at Gaundalim ground. The winners will be richer by Rs 10,000 while the runners-up will pocket Rs 7,000.
Archery selections
PANJIM (HSD) — The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs will conduct State selection trials in archery for U-14, U-17 and U-19 boys and girls to select probables for the 56th National School Games in Pune from February 4 to 7. Participants may report to Devraj Tari, TSO at sports complex, Ponda on January 15 and 16. U-14 boys and girls born on or after 1/1/1997 studying upto Std VIII, U-17 boys and girls born on or after 1/1/1994 studying upto Std X and U-19 boys and girls born on or after 1/1/1992 studying upto Std XII are eligible. Participants may report alongwith identity card, institution authority letter and full playing kit.
Kayaking expeditions
PANJIM (HSD) – The Goa Kayaking will conduct its daily kayaking trips from January 13 to 19. On January 13 at River Mandovi, Old Goa to Ribandar from 7.30 to 10.30 a.m. River Zuari, Agasaim bridgehead to Siridao beach from 7.30 to 10 a.m. and River Sal backwaters from 8 to 10.30 a.m.

Inter-HSS cricket at Khandola
PANJIM (HSD) – The Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association in collaboration with Govt. Higher Secondary School, Khandola, Marcela will organise their 7th Goa State Under -19 Higher Secondary School Tennis Ball Cricket Championships for boys and girls on January 12 at Govt. Higher Secondary campus ground, Khandola, Marcela. The inauguration will be at 8.30 a.m. and the finals at 4 p.m. Confirmed schools have been asked to report at the venue with players lists and school identity cards.
