Goa Velha SC beat Candolim to book final date with Nerul SC

MAPUSA: Goa Velha Sports Club trounced Candolim Sports Club 3-0 to move into the final of St Anthony’s Cup inter-village football tournament, organised by St Anthony Sports Club, Marna and played at Siolim Church ground.
Chatur Naik opened the floodgates for Goa Velha Sports Club when he capitalised and shot home after the Candolim Sports Club keeper spilled a Joseph Rodrigues free kick. The winners led 1-0 at the breather.
Crossing ends, Goa Velha Sports Club dominated the second half and soon doubled the lead. Ashok Magheri made it 2-0 midway in the second half when he headed home off a Lokesh Talwar free-kick.
Chatur Naik rounded up the tally as he tapped home off a Ashok Magheri pass in the dying minutes of the match.
Goa Velha’s Chatur Naik was wasteful in front of goal and should have added a couple more but he shot wide from close range with only the keeper to beat.
Goa Velha keeper Agnelo came with splendid saves to deny Candolim couple of chances.
The final will be played between Nerul SC and Goa Velha Sports Club on November 2 at 4 p.m.
