PANJIM: Gopalkrishna Sports Club, Khandola trounced Trinity Boys, Shiroda 3-0 to emerge champions of 9th Ponda Taluka football tournament organized by United Sports Club, Mardol, at Mardol ground, recently. The winners led 1-0 at half time.
Gopal started attackingly and soon took the lead through a delightful strike from Bhavesh Kerkar.
Changing over, Gopal Sawal registered a fine brace to make it 3-0.
Gopal Krishna were awarded Rs 15,000 while Trinity Boys had to settle for Rs 10,000.
Individual prizes were awarded to Best player of the tournament Bhavesh Kerkar of Gopalkrishna, who also took home the first scorer of the final award. Milton Cruz of Trinity Boys was adjudged Best goalkeeper, Pritesh Gawade of Gaunem Youth Association took home First hat-trick of the tournament while GSC Murdi, Khandepar were chosen Best Discipline team of the tournament.
MLA Deepak Dhavlikar was the chief guest and distributed the prizes in the presence of Kishor Naik, president of United Sports Club, Mardol and Dr Ajay Pednekar.
