GTTA launches exchange programme to elevate Goan table tennis talent, to hold camps

RAIA: The Goa Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has launched an innovative exchange programme designed to elevate the skills of its top-ranked players. This initiative will see some of the best table tennis players from other States invited to play alongside Goa’s finest sub junior and junior paddlers. 

The primary goal is to expose Goan players to diverse playing styles and techniques, thereby equipping them to excel at the national level. There will be a series of such camps periodically held inviting players from different academies. The first of such advanced coaching camps is scheduled from June 3 to 7, at the table tennis hall, multipurpose stadium, Fatorda. 

The camp will feature coaching from advanced coaches such as Soumen Saha, Bicky Sing, Wiacom, and Mitom Dooley. 20 top-ranked players from Goa have been shortlisted for the camp on the basis of their recent performances and outstation players who have been invited for the exchange programme are: Saee Kulkarni, India Rank 15 in U-13, Rajat Toraskar, medallist at University Games (Bhopal); Prutha Vartikar, gold medallist U-19, Samruddhi Kulkarni, silver medallist, at Khelo India Games; Titiksha Pawar, gold medallist at West Zone and silver medallist at Khelo India Games and Aditya Samant, Rank 4 in Pune District U-15 and Rank 15 in Maharashtra State. 

Sudin Verenkar, president of GTTA, expressed his enthusiasm for the programme, stating, “This exchange initiative represents a significant step forward for raising the bar of table tennis in Goa. By bringing in top-tier talent from across the country, we are providing our players with invaluable opportunities to learn, grow, adopt to different styles and prepare them to excel at higher levels. Players should look at excelling not only at State level but should aim higher and set their sights on being the best in the country. We invite parents to support us in this initiative.”
