FATORDA: FC Goa coach Sergio Lobera was happy with the result but was not satisfied with overall performance of the team despite a comfortable 3-0 win over Odisha FC, at Nehru Stadium, here, on Sunday.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Sergio said, “I am not happy with the team’s performance today and if we go the same way I think we will not win anymore matches. As a coach I am responsible for the team and I know that these three points are very important to us but the score line does not reflect the reality of what happened on the home ground today.”
“I am happy with the way the team played in the first few minutes but after that Odisha FC played well. We need to improve and learn from this match. If we decrease the level at this point of time in the league, it will be very difficult for us to win the trophy.”
“I think it was very important to analyse the situation. Everyone knows that keep possession, create chances and dominate but that was not the case against Odisha FC. They played well throughout the match. I think they had a few chances. I don’t normally believe in luck, but today, maybe, we were a little bit lucky,” he added.
The Spaniard also spoke about Odisha FC and the fight that they put up.
“The opponents have very good players and when they started pressing in between the lines, I think we came under a little bit of pressure. I think we missed the communication. It is very important to stay defensive. They covered the ball faster. I think today we need to analyse the match well to improve. We have three days for the next match. I know everyone is happy with our position but it’s too early to party.”
Speaking about Jackichand Singh injury, the coach said there is nothing to worry and he would be fit for the next away game against Chennaiyin FC on December 26.
