MAPUSA: Holy Cross Sports Club, Arambol scored a comfortable 2-0 win over Xetrapal Sports Club to secure full points in the GFA’s Second Division League match, at Duler Stadium, here, on Sunday.
Both the goals came in the second session of play where in the 40th minute Anand Gad on collecting the ball from Jaison Fernandes cooly tapped the ball into the goal, 1-0.
Four minutes later, Arambol further inflated the lead when Sandesh Sawant ran down the left flank and flashed the ball across to Shashank Ashvekar who finished off with an adroit placement.
On Saturday, Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club registered a 2-0 win over FC Siolim.
Vagator fired in both the goals in the first session of play.
Anson D’Souza put Vagator into the lead in the 20th minute when he leapt high to head home Nitesh Salgaonkar floater from the left flank.
Within a matter of few minutes, Vagator doubled their lead when Nitesh Salgaocar neatly set up Anson D’Souza who made no mistake to score his brace, once again through a fine header.
Crossing over Siolim tried hard to get back into the match but failed to find of the back of the
Vagator nets. At the other end Vagator almost took the score tally to 3-0, however Manuel Fernandes failed to give finishing touches to Anson D’Souza’s cross.
