MAPUSA: Holy Cross Arambol registered a solitary goal win over Goan Warriors to clinch the 13th Reira Soccer Trophy organised by Saligao Sporting Club, played at Saligao ground, on Sunday.
The all-important goal for the winners came in the 24th minute through the boots of Jason Fernandes.
Holy Cross Arambol returned home richer by winning the cash prize of Rs. 45,000 and trophy, while Goan Warriors had to be content with the runners-up trophy and cash prize of Rs. 35,000.
Before the start of the match a minute of silence was observed for the departed soul of late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Bruno Coutinho, joint director (coaching) SAG was the chief guest and congratulated the winners and also praised the runners up for the good game they played. Daryl Pereira of Reira group in his speech encouraged both the teams and praised the club for organizing this tournament.
