History will repeat, believes coach Alfred

VASCO: Churchill Brother Coach Alfred Fernandes believes ‘history will repeat’ as the Goan club are yet to collect their first point of the season.
Churchill Brothers are presently rooted last on the points table following their five consecutive losses, wherein they faced the similar situation in the 2016-17 season.
“Last time the same thing happened. We were in similar position and after five matches, we got the first points in Pune. And from there we went from strength to strengths. I think the history will repeat. I’m just waiting for one victory. Tomorrow’s match can bring lot of turnaround to our future matches,” said Alfred Fernandes while addressing the pre-match conference at Tilak Maidan, Vasco, on Sunday.
“After initial setbacks, the team was functioning but the results weren’t in our favour. We played well but we conceded late goals against Aizawl and East Bengal,” added Alfred.
The Red Machines played their last match against Chennai City on December 19 and had ample of recovery and preparation time coming into the new year.
“We had back to back games which gave us very little time to recover. Luckily we got two weeks to prepare and we made the best of this time. Tomorrow we will give a good account of ourselves,” expressed Alfred.
I’m very confident. As the two goals scored by Churchill Bros were against them. This can give players more confidence. We have the confidence, but now we have to execute the plan on the field. We will put on good fight and we will come knocking on the teams,” said Alfred.
Alfred revealed that the earlier signings failed miserably as they couldn’t do proper assessment on the players.
