MAPUSA: Sporting Clube de Goa scored a narrow 2-1 win over Goan Football Club in the Goa Football Association’s U-20 Taca Goa League match, played at Duler Stadium, on Sunday.
Akash Sanadi (32’) scored for Goan Football Club before Trijoy Dias levelled terms in the 39th minute before half-time. Joston Cardoz (60’) netted the winner.
In a match that saw as many as six cautions and one expulsion, there was rarely a moment to be missed as the teams fought from the word go to surge ahead in the game.
With each passing minute, the tension in the game started rising as the referee booked Joston Cardoz in the 24th minute after he retaliated against the decision against him.
Goan FC continued to pressurise the Flaming Oranje defence and constantly threatened the rival keeper.
The Flaming Oraje side, however, struggled to keep the defence line intact and were punished for their mistakes as Kunal Kundaikar and Akshay Hadkonkar were booked for reckless tackles by the referee.
It was in the 32nd minute that the Goan FC were rewarded for their attempt at the goal as Akash Sanadi made his way past the rival defence and slotted the ball home to make it 1-0.
Struck by reverse, Sporting Clube furiously charged back and dominated the attack and scored the equaliser in the 39th minute through Trijoy Dias.
Post resumption, Sporting Clube attacked furiously and their hard work finally paid off as Joston Cardoz netted the winner in the 60th minute.
Goan FC tried their level best to get back into the game but suffered a setback as they were reduced to 10-man after Sarineo Fernandes was sent off for a second yellow.
