Holy Rosary Convent, Nuvem and Bethany Convent, Sao Jose de Areal recorded victories in Salcete Taluka Under-14 girls inter- school football tournament at Government ground, Manora, Raia on Friday.
Holy Rosary were lucky to beat St Rock’s High School, Tolleacanto, Velim 1-0. Alisha Tavares netted the all-important goal.
Holy Rosary enjoyed the lion share of exchanges but it was St Rock’s defenders comprising Seema Fernandes and Melfa Simoes who frustrated the rival attacks with neat tackles. Anisha Simoes under St Rock’s bar was rock solid as she brought up splendid saves and restricted the score 1-0.
Bethany Convent routed The King’s School, Margao 4-0. Bethany led 2-0 at half time. Bethany dominated the entire proceedings and tormented the rival defence. Caron Costa bulged the net from close range from the kick off.
Janice Gomes was on a song striking thrice to compete her hat-trick.
