PANJIM: Reacting to a statement of Churchill Brothers FC Patron Churchill Almeao regarding GFA-AIFF relationship, GFA president Elvis Gomes welcomed the suggestion of Alemao that GFA and AIFF should work together.
The President further sought tips from Churchill Alemao on how he succeeded in working with AIFF when he himself was at war with them after his Churchill Brothers FC were unceremoniously thrown out of the I-League with GFA supporting the club in order to seek justice from AIFF.
“We are here to serve the interests of Goan football without compromising on GFA sovereignty. If Churchill or anyone else thinks GFA-AIFF relationship is strained, please show us how you managed to smoothen it out in your own case” said Gomes.
“Those who claim to have good relationships with AIFF could have themselves questioned AIFF the reason for non inclusion of Goans in the Squad. GFA was raising this issue repeatedly three years ago. None supported GFA then or now. I am ready for a debate with anyone on not only this but any other issue” Gomes added.
He said that there are a few who still cannot digest the fact that a common man is heading the body of football which is a common man’s game in the State.
