CANACONA: Janasena secured a remarkable victory in the 10th Maratha Trophy 2024, part of the Canacona Taluka League Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament organised by Young Maratha Dele. This win marks their second triumph of the month, following their success in the Dhuri Rolling Trophy 2024.
In the final match, Janasena won the toss and opted to bowl first. Their strategy paid off as Munna’s incisive bowling, supported by Ganesh and Gaurav, decimated the Young Maratha team’s lineup. The Young Maratha team managed to score 65/8 in 6 overs, with Uday Shet contributing 39 runs.
Chasing the target, Janasena’s timely batting, led by Pratik Pagi with 28 runs and Lewis with 17 runs, secured the win in just 3.3 overs with 8 wickets to spare.
Lewis Barreto was awarded man-of-the-series and best bowler, while Munna Bhagat received the man-of-the-match award. Akhil Desai was recognised as the best batsman of the tournament.
The winning team was awarded Rs 50,000 in cash and the Maratha Trophy, while the runner-up team received Rs 25,000 and a cup. MS Rising claimed third place in the tournament.
