PANJIM: Joel Andrade and Selvyn Godinho registered straight sets wins in boys U-17 events to march into the pre-quarters of GCCI Cup talent search table tennis tournament organised by Panjim Table Tennis Club in association with SAG and JCI St. Inez.
Joel beat Sidhant Sharma 11-6, 11-5, 11-8; Selvyn beat Viadik Shrivastav 12-10, 11-8, 11-5; Vedant Shrivastav beat Akash Kalro 11-4, 11-8, 11-3; Wayne Remedios beat Shubham Narvekar 11-9, 11-5, 9-11, 12-10; Yash Ghanekar beat Aaron Pinto 11-5, 11-7, 11-4; Prathmesh Dhulapkar beat Kartik Iyer 11-6, 12-10, 11-8; Gaurav Raikar beat Gandhar Thakur 11-7, 11-8, 11-9; Joash Mendonca beat Milan Ferus-Comelo 11-1, 11-1, 11-4 and Rutuj Sonawane beat Aghan Lawande 11-3, 11-4, 11-5 to enter the round of 16.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Manguirish Pai Raikar (president, GCCI) in the presence of Sandeep Heble (secretary, Panjim TT Club), TT coaches Irwin Cordo and Noel Estibeiro and others.
