PANJIM: Kevin Rebelo and Tari Worman defeated Siraj Rahman and Ahmed (7-5) in the men’s veterans doubles 110+ (combined age) category in the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open, in association with Goa State Tennis Association, at Miramar, on Friday.
In the men’s veterans singles 60+ Ganesh Pai won against Dilp (6-1) to move in to the next round. Suresh and Deshpande powered through and won against Siraj Rahman and Ahmed (6-0) in the Men’s Veterans Doubles 110+ (Combined age) and step closer to the title.
In men’s veterans doubles 120+ (combined age) the dynamic duo Satish Kadam and Nageshwar Bhasme pushed through and won against Pradeep Kaundinya and Nitin Sant (6-1); whereas in the men’s veterans singles 60+ Dudely D’Souza battled it out on the blue tennis courts and championed against Avinash Raiturkar (6-1) to proceed to the next round.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Arjun Gadre, Owner, Gadre Groups Pvt. Ltd.; Rajesh Khaunte, president, Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Sunil Naik, secretary, Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias; Aakash Khaunte, chairman – Sports Committee, Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias and Nathan Chowgule, president, Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA).
