Candolim move into semis
PANJIM: Candolim Sports Club moved into the semi-finals of the 7th London trophy football tournament organized by GoaVelha Sports Club at Goa Velha ground. They beat beat hosts Goa Velha 3-0.
Goa Velha begun in a whirlwind fashion attacking the Candolim goal with Vishant Pednekar and Sidroy sending the Goa Velha forwards Denzil and Joy with a spray of passes keeping Candolim keeper Marshal on his toes.

However, it was Candolim team which following a corner taken by Duarte which was converted by Kleiber past Andson in the Goa Velha goal.
Goa Velha were again on the go with Lector providing a superb ball for Sidroy whose rasping shot however, missed the Candolim goal.
Later, Denzil who was fed by Vishant took several defenders and the goalkeeper in his stride but his final push for goal was saved on the goalline by Atish.
Royden was next to be unlucky as his shot went straight into the hands of Candolim keeper Marshal. At half time Candolim were leading 1-0.
After resumption the script did not change with Goa Velha on the rampage. Denzil Novis who was fed by Joseph shot against the pole and the ball went out of play. Against the run of play Candolim yet again gained a corner and Bapu nodded the ball home.
Candolim scored yet again with Canute this time scoring off a melee in the Goa Velha zone.
