PANJIM: The State sub-junior basketball championship got underway, on Friday, at Youth Hostel, Mira Mar.
In the first match organized by the Goa Basketball Association, Lourdes High School, Saligao got the better of Sharada Mandir High School, Mira Mar 31-14.
Keenan, Jeshua and Jesurel excelled for Lourdes HS with 10 points each to clinch the victory.
The tournament is being played in a round robin league.
In the girls section, Fatima Convent, Margao/ Jawahar Naya Vidyala, Valpoi and Sharda Mandir will play against each other. The matches will commence from 8.30 a.m.
In the boys section, Loyola HS, Margao; Jawahar Naya Vidyala, Valpoi; Sharada Mandir, Mira Mar and Lourdes HS, Saligao will play against each other.
