PANJIM: Loyola High School, Margao displayed an exceptional skill to put it past Sharda Mandir School, Mira Mar to clinch the State inter-school Under-17 table tennis championship organised by the DSYA, at indoor stadium, Campal-Panjim, recently.
In the final, Loyola started with an initial set back when Ravindra Kudchadkar lost to Sharda Mandir’s Siddhant Parekh 0-3 but Wesley do Rosario gave a new impetus with a resounding victory by defeating Vedant Srivastava 3-0.
Loyola’s Nathan Fernandes also went down to Soham Naik 2-3. But Wesley do Rosario kept hopes alive with 3-0 win over Siddhant Parekh.
Ravindra Kudchadkar ensured a memorable win for Loyola when he came back from two sets down to eventually beat Vedant Srivastava 3-2. This was Loyola’s State championship victory after 31 years.
Loyola emerged champions at the Salcete Taluka outplaying Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao 3-1. They then went on to beat St Joseph’s, Vasco 3-0 at the South Goa District level.
