Mae dos Pobres High School, Nuvem will clash with St Joseph Educational Institute, Chandor in the finals of Salcete Taluka U-17 inter-school football tournament at Government ground, Manora, Raia on Wednesday.
Mae Dos Pobres defeated Bethany Convent, Sao Jose de Areal 5-3 via the tie-breaker. The teams were level 1-1 at normal time. Romeo Moura gave the lead to Bethany School while Melwyn D’silva equalised for Mae Dos Pobres.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Stephan Colaco, Godfrey Mascarenhas, Melwyn D’silva and Shubert Colaco scored for Mae Dos Pobres while Ashwin Travasso and Monty Valadares netted for Bethany School.
In the second semi-finals, St. Joseph’s, Chandor beat St Joseph High School, Aquem 3-2 via the tie-breaker. Both teams were locked goalless at the end of full time.
In the tie-breaker, Jossy Mascarenhas, Mavlon Moura and Melwyn Hilario scored for Chandor while Leslie Costa and Micky Furtado were on target for St Joseph.
