PANJIM: Mandar Lad won the Goa State U-19 Junior Chess Championship 2023 in the open category. Mandar and Devesh scored 6 points each but due to better tie break Mandar stood first while Devesh finished second. Aayush Naik finishes third with the score of 5.5 points.
Other prize winners from 4th to 10th are Ekka Aniket, Madhavan G, Nawal Swant, Mayuresh Desai, Chaitanya Gaonkar, Sara Powar and Vipul Kadam.

Asmita Ray won the Girls Championship with the score of 5 points. She remained undefeated in the tournament. Valanka Fernandes stood 2nd with the score of 4 points. Vaishnavi Parab finished 3rd with 3.5 points

Four selected players each in open & Girls will represent Goa State in U-19 (junior) National to be held at Ahmedabad Gujarat from September 20 to 28.
