RAIA: Marcus’ hat-trick guided the Calangute Veterans to a dominant 5-1 victory over Chandor Veterans in the semi-final to move into the final of Pogo Boys Cup 6.0 50+ Veterans tournament, at Merces church ground, on Friday.
The game began with Marcus scoring from a direct free-kick in the very 3rd minute putting Calangute Veterans ahead early on. Although, Jerry equalised for Chandor Veterans in the 10th minute, Marcus quickly regained the lead for Calangute Veterans and then completed his hat-trick in the first half with a well-placed shot, making it 3-1.
Marcus continued to shine, providing an assist to Eddie, who calmly scored to extend the lead to 4-1 before the half-time whistle.
In the second half, both teams created chances, but Calangute Veterans controlled most of the possession. Their dominance paid off in the dying minutes when Alwyn sealed the win with a powerful left-footed shot, ending the match 5-1 in favour of Calangute Veterans.
