PANJIM: Marina English HS School, Verna, emerged champions in all-Goa five-a-side invitation inter-school football tournament organised by Don Bosco Past Pupils, Mormugao Unit and Don Boso Oratory, Panjim, at DBO turf on Friday.
In all 16 schools participated in the day-long tournament.
Marina HS outplayed Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna, 5-0 in the final. The match turned out to bea one-sided where the Verna-based school thrashed their rivals.
Earlier, St. Joseph HS, Calangute, and Fr Agnel HS, Pilar, went down in the semi-finals to Regina Martyrum and Marina respectively.
The tournament, played on league-cum-knock-out basis saw 16 teams divided into four groups. Two top teams from each group, qualified for the quarter-finals.

Brahmanand Shankhwalkar, GFDC Chairman and Lector Mascarenhas, GFA Secretary graced the occasion as guests. They congratulated the organising secretary Luis Fernandes for organising the event
Following Individual prizes were awarded: Upcoming player – Leo Miranda of Regina Martyrum. Best player – Anish Kholkar, Don Bosco, Panjim. Highest scorer – Shaunak Salgaonkar, St.Joseph, Calangute. Best goalkeeper – Melburn Silva, Regina Martyrum. Fair Play- St.Xavier, Moira.
