CHICALIM: Holders Bethany Convent School, Sao Jose de Areal brushed off the challenge of formidable Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna 4-3 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of the 23rd Bro D.O. Slattery Memorial U-13 boys inter-school football Tournament, organised by the Alumni Association of Regina Mundi School, in association with Regina Mundi School at the RMS ground, Chicalim.
In the other quarter-final matches, last year’s runners-up Marina English High School, Verna defeated Loyola High School, Margao 1-0 with Aaron scoring the match winner. In the third quarter-final match, St Thomas High School beat Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Cortalim 2-0 with Pio Rodrigues scoring a brace.
Later Deepvihar High School, Sada edged past hosts Regina Mundi School 5-4 via the tie breaker to enter the semi-finals.
The semi-finals, third-place and final will be played today from 8.30 a.m.
