Mata Secondary School,Vasco scored a fluent 7-wicket win over Mother of Mercy  High School, Vasco to emerge champions at Mukund Trikkanad memorial inter-school cricket tournament organised by Margao Cricket Club at Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium, here on Thursday.
Batting first, Mother of Mercy were bundled out for 86 all out in 25.1 overs. Yamanappa Kadri scored 20, Yogesh Naik 16, Shailesh Shinde 11. For Mata, Sushil Saroj and Manish Sharma were the most successful bowlers scalping two wickets each.
In reply, Mata achieved the target without any difficulty and scored 87 runs for the loss  of  3 wickets in just 16.1 overs. Dilip Tirodkar topscored with 24. He was well supported by Anil Saroj who scored 20. For Mother of Mercy, Siddarth Naik was the wrecker-in- chief claiming 2 for 28.
 Brief scores: Mother of Mercy 86 all out in 25.1 overs (Yamanappa Kadri 20, Yogesh Naik 16, Shailesh Shinde 11. Sushil Saroj 2-13, Manish Sharma 2-23, Raja Chavan, Anil Saroj and Shubham Naik 1 each)  lost to Mata Secondary 87 for 3 in 16.1 overs (Dilip Tirodkar 24, Anil Saroj 20. Siddharth Naik 2-28.
Following individual prizes were awarded: Best batsman Yamanappa Kadri (Mother of Mercy). Best bowler Sushil Saroj (Mata Secondary). Player of the tournament Deepak Tirodkar (Mata Secondary). Best fielders Manu Sharma (Mata) and Yogesh Naik (Mother of Mercy). Promising player Aditya Suryavanshi (Damodar HS).
Ex-Ranji player Suresh Mahadevan was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Apoorva Bhembre, secretary and Sudesh Bhise, treasurer, MCC. Vinod Dhamaskar welcomed and later proposed the vote of thanks.
