MARGAO: MCC Thunder were crowned champions of the MCL 11 T20 cricket tournament after a commanding 25-run victory over MCC Tigers in the final at the MCC Ground, Margao. Sudesh Rane was named man-of-the-match for his decisive all-round performance.
Batting first, MCC Thunder piled up an imposing 189 for eight in 20 overs, driven by brisk contributions from Om Fadte (35 off 20 balls), Sudhir Shet (35 off 24), Ved Mahambre (36 off 15) and Iftikhar Agha (30 not out off 16). For MCC Tigers, the wickets were shared by Mrunmay Das (1/44), Pranav Dhuri (1/31), Viraj Tar (1/25) and Balkrishna Hodarkar (1/25).
In reply, MCC Tigers were bowled out for 164 in their allotted overs despite a spirited 32 off 15 balls from Viraj Tar and useful knocks by Chaitanya Kamat (36), Nikit Naik Dalal (25) and Pranav Dhuri (21 not out). MCC Thunder’s bowlers held firm, with Sudesh Rane spearheading the attack with 4/23, well supported by Iftikhar Agha (2/30) and Sudhir Shet (1/34), to seal the title.
PWD Minister Digambar Kamat attended the prize distribution ceremony, along with MCC member Sagun Naik and Raghuvir Kunkolienkar.
