VASCO: Churchill Brothers FC Goa who are currently enjoying a purple patch under coach Derrick Pereira would look to continue their winning run against visiting Shillong Lajong in their Hero I-League match at the Tilak Maidan, on Sunday.
The Red Machines managed to secure back to back victories against Kolkata giants and title contenders Mohun Bagan and East Bengal respectively which also helped them climb out of the bottom place in the table.
Dereck, as usual, would not throw much light on the strategy for tomorrow’s match.
When asked what was the secret of his success after recording three straight victories against the Pune and two Kolkata giants, he said, “It just happened that I was at the right place at the right time. These are God’s plans. The team was going through a bad patch and doubt.
Life is also just like that and one needs to stay positive all the time, as every new day is a new beginning, thus concentrating on the present, and stressing that performance is what ultimately counts.
We take every match seriously with the aim of putting our best and working on our weaknesses. The players have responded exceedingly well and hopefully we will get good results.
We are working hard and our attitude is never to lose focus and never lose sight of surmounting difficulties which we convert as challenges,” disclosed Dereck.
“Our previous journeys to Goa have been tough and tomorrow it will still be tougher as we face a resurgent Churchill Brothers Football Club,” stated Shilong Lajong coach Thangboi.
