MERCES: Moloca defeated Mix Friends 2-1 via the tie-breaker in the 4th Pogo Boys Rolling Trophy, organised by Pogo Boys Merces, at Merces Church ground, on Thursday.
Moloca’s Jobern had a decent header from a corner taken by Agostinho, but much to his dismay, the ball hit the cross bar and went out for a goal kick.
Minutes after the miss, Jobern finally scored with a brilliant right footed strike which had no answer from the Mix Friends keeper Abhishek. Moloca’ Austin played an important part in the goal after he held the ball before he laid it off to Jobern who later did the rest. Mix friends Dipu later had a go at goal but his shot hit the goal post and went out for a goal kick.
Austin laid off another lovely through ball to Jobern on the flanks, who then shot the ball out. Moloca led 1-0 at the break.
Post resumption, Mix Friends were awarded a penalty. Skipper Akshay finally drew terms after calmly placing the ball in the back of the net from the penalty spot.
In the tie-breaker, Yogesh and Agustine scored for Moloca and Ajay was the lone scorer for Mix Friends.
