NAVELIM: MSP Football Academy, Kerala came from behind to defeat Sports Hostel, Odisha 2-1 in the all-India Federation U-15 Youth league play off Group A, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Monday
The first half was mostly dominated by the Kerala side with brilliant ball control which kept the rival on the defensive. MSP Football Academy were unlucky when captain Ajay Krishnan unleashed a snapshot hit the cross bar much to the dismay of Kerala bench.
Sports Hostel, Odisha broke the deadlock in the 6th minute when Raghu Mandi converted from the spot kick after the rival defender tackled the Kerala player from behind and referee Prakash Chauhan awarded the spot kick .Stung by the setback, MPS Football Academy upped the ante and their forwards threaten the rival defenders with a well orchestrated raids but without success.
Crossing over, MPS Football Academy were dominant with their forwards showed the urgency and unleashed a barrage of attacks. The persistent forays paid off when midfielder Abhijith P punted the ball to the far corner of the net off Shikhil N.S pass in the 76th minute.
Stung by that setback, Sports Hostel, Odisha went into attacking fashion with Gopal Hembram tried his best and waged a lone battle as he was not getting adequate support from his teammates. With time running out, Haseem KH struck the match winner to give his team full three points off Ajay assist.
