RAIA: Murida-Fatorda Veterans defeated Vasco Veterans 3-0 in the Sesa-Vedanta Awes 50+ veterans football tournament played at Sinquetim ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
The match started with Murida-Fatorda Veterans dictating terms and their efforts paid dividends soon with Santan Furtado finding the back of the nets in the 10th minute.
Derrick Pereira missed a fine header for Vasco Veterans to level terms in the 17th minute. In the 21st minute, hard working Vincent Barboza made it 2-0 for Murida-Fatorda Veterans.
Both teams headed into the lemon break with Fatorda leading 2-0.
Changing over, Murida-Fatorda started with loads of energy, playing attacking football while Nelson Landez tried a few long rangers for Vasco Veterans.
Murida-Fatorda were awarded a penalty in the 38th minute which was coolly placed in by Seby Vaz to make it 3-0. At regulation time, the score read 3-0 in favour of Murida-Fatorda Veterans, who advance to the semi-finals.
