PANJIM: Nagesh Nayak emerged champions in the 2nd Shobhavati Satarkar memorial chess tournament 2025 organised by Ajinkya Chess Academy in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA), at the Shree Krishna temple hall, recently.
Nagesh Nayak secured (6.5/7) points, while runner-up Chetan Kurtikar earned (6/7) points. Harsh Kurtikar and Mayank Gaude (5.5) bagged the third and fourth place respectively.
On tie-break system 5th to 8th place winners are Swayam Naik (5/7), Supreet Priolkar (5/7), Aarush Gaude (5/7) and Siaan Kerkar(5/7). Encouraging prizes were given to best U-13 – Vedant Priolkar (4.5), best U-11 – Anay Chavan (5/7), best U-9 – Tansh Gaude (5/7), best U-7 – Nirbhay Gaude (4.5/7) and best female player – Nirmayi Dalal (4/7). Promising player – Vinayak Gaonkar (4.5/7) and Curti promising player Shubham Gaude (5/7). Best boy and girl (ACA coaching) – Gaurav Temyekar and Manvita Kerkar.
PTCA Joint Secretary Pankaj Chavan gave away the prizes in the presence of Anand Kurtikar, PTCA Treasurer Sandesh Naik, Lala Satarkar, Dr Santoshi Priolkar, Siddesh Kerkar, Milind Borkar, Anish Naik and Ganaraj Nayak. Milind Gaude was the arbiter.
