The match started with both the sides displaying entertaining football and had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards misfired from hand shaking distance.

With time running out, St Savio Sports Club , striker Vijay Parsenkar collected the ball from the flank and stormed into the rival penalty box all of his own ,but his marvelous effort was cleared by Goa Velha Sports Club goalkeeper .The teams went into the break with the dead lock yet to be broken .
Post resumption, both the teams displayed attacking flair however St Savio Sports Club enjoyed the lion share of ball possession and exchanges creating many openings .There were few thrills and the play was restricted to mid field. St Savio Sports Club finaly drew first blood through Namresh Kundaikar who pulled a sublime header off a well taken free kick from Raju in the 65th minute .Stung by that setback, Goa Velha Sports Club tried their best to neutralized the lead and compounded further with veteran Vishant Pednekar injury prevented them from levelling the score .
