QUEPEM: The National Games torch on Thursday arrived in Quepem town and it was received warmly by large number of students from Quepem schools and most of the government servants at the various offices in the town.
A public meeting was held in the Quepem garden in the market area which was addressed by Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldessai. Amongst others present on the occasion were Quepem Mamlatdar Prataprao Gaonkar and Deputy Superintendent of Police Nilesh Rane.
Phaldessai said the Games would give a new direction and boost to Goan youth in sports and added that it was the first event of its kind to be held in the State.
