MARGAO: Navelim Sporting Club shunted out St Savio Sports Club, Calangute 5-4 via tie-breaker to cruise into the semi-finals of 37th All-Goa Cana-Benaulim inter-village football tournament organized by Cana-Benaulim Sporting Association at St John de Baptist ground, Benaulim, Friday. Navelim trailed 0-1 at half time.

Navelim were expected to come back strongly after the early reverse but the St Savio defenders stood tall in protecting their citadel.

Post resumption, Navelim intensified their attacks with their forwards launching a barrage of attacks and frequently troubling the rival defence. Navelim restored parity midway in the second half when Bitu Singh converted a spot kick after the Calangute goalkeeper brought down a Navelim forward inside the penalty box.

In the ensuing tie-breaker, Bitu Singh, Rovel Gomes, Wellington Silva and Jaison Pereira were on target for Navelim while Alber Gomes, Pedro Gonsalves and Aniket Mandrekar converted for St Savio.
