RAIA: Navelim SC blanked CAC Cansaulim 4-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the 47th All-Goa Custodio Memorial football organised by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia Panchayat ground, on Sunday.
Navelim’s Covan Lawrence sent in a long ball to Rovan Pereira but the latter after dribbling past Cansaulim defenders Hasten Pereira and Josito Dias who shot from close range but the Cansaulim keeper Prabhakar Khattimini was equal to the task in the first minute.
Three minutes later, Cansaulim’s Cansio Soares sent in a long ball to Veegan Ferrao but the latter’s shot hit the Navelim cross bar and went out of play.
Navelim coach Pinto Martins changed the game plan and the plan worked and Navelim netted the first goal of the match through Clinton Niasso in the 7th minute.
Minutes later, Jaison Martins made it 2-0 for Navelim.
In the second half, Rovan Pereira and Clinton Niasso made it 3-0 and 4-0 for Navelim SC in the 53rd and 67th minute respectively.
Navelim SC will now meet the winner of Pax of Nagoa, Verna and CDJ Ribandar in the quarter-finals on July 14.
