RAIA: Navelim Sporting Club edged past Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, 2-1 in the inaugural match of Vaidya Family Memorial Cup organised by Cuncolim Union, at school playground, Cuncolim, on Monday.
Navelim SC opened the scoreline through Velington Almeida with a powerful shot that beat Don Bosco Oratory goalkeeper Clyden Clement in the 22nd minute of play, while Don Bosco Oratory’s Charles Miranda shot missed the target by whiskers before the half time.
Navelim SC were leading 1-0 at half time.
Changing over, Don Bosco Oratory wasted chances to level the score and Navelim SC doubled the lead in the 52nd minute through Ronaldo Pereira, while Don Bosco Oratory pulled one goal back through Edger Noronha in the 56th minute.
