RAIA: Navelim Villagers Union got the better of Arlem Youth Association, Raia, 3-1 in the 17th All Goa Inter-Village Seraulim Panchayat Cup football tournament organised by USC Seraulim, at Seraulim Panchayat ground, on Friday.
Both teams played an attacking football with the ball rolling from one side to the other keeping their respective goalkeepers busy. Navelim Villagers Union were the first to score in the 10th minute through Mobin Gomes. Arlem Youth Association soon equalised through Silvano Oliviera in the 14th minute to take the score to 1-1.
At half time, the score read 1-1.The teams entered the field with more energy and with an urgency to score more goals. Navelim Villagers Union scored their second goal when Meliston Dias ran down the left flank and netted from a close range by smartly placing the ball giving no chance to the goalkeeper.
Arlem Youth Association pressed in for an equaliser and were seen making some dangerous moves but have to blame themselves for not taking the advantage of the opportunities they got.
Just minute before the final hooter, Ronaldo Pereira scored the third goal for Navelim Villagers Union through a defensive lapse from moving Gauncar, 3-1.
