Nerul Sports Club prevailed over Penha de Franca 3-2 via the tie-breaker after the teams were involved in a goalless draw to move into the quarter-finals of Candolim Panchayat Cup football tournament at Dr Gustavo Monteiro stadium, Candolim on Tuesday.
In a keenly contested match, the teams had a number of scoring opportunities but their forwards failed to find the net at regulation time.
With both the teams locked in a goalless draw, the tie-breaker was resorted to decide the winners.
Nerul kept their nerves to prevail over Penha de Franca 3-2. Jovito Fernandes, Siddharth Shirodker and Abhijit Govekar converted for Nerul while Seby Rodrigues and Manguesh Kankonkar found the mark for Penha de Franca.
