Nerul thump St. Anthony

Nerul Sports Club blanked St Anthony’s Sporting Club 3-0 to enter the quarter-finals of Nagoa Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Rossman Cruz Sports Club at Nagoa ground on Thursday.
Nerul went into the lead in the 10th minute when Deepraj’ flag kick dipped into the net giving no chance to the rival goalkeeper.
Spurred by early success, Nerul increased their tally five minutes later when Dynasher Malgaonkar unleashed a stiff shot.
On the other hand, St Anthony’s were a subdued lot in the opening session when Nelson Gomes’ free kick was blocked by the Nerul goalkeeper.
After resumption, St Anthony’s tried their best to come back but their efforts failed to get the desired results. They came close to scoring but Nelson Gomes’ try missed the mark narrowly.
Nerul increased their tally when Umesh floored the rival keeper with a volley.
