RAIA: Novowado Sporting Club defeated Unjirim United 4-3 via the tie-breaker to move to the quarter-finals of the 9-A-side inter-ward football tournament, organised by Sporting Club of Virabhat Club, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
Novowado took the lead in the eighth minute through Anthony Fernandes. Later, in the 22nd minute, Velroy Antao scored the equaliser for Unjirim.
In the second half, Novowado dominated but couldn’t score. In the 39th minute, Unjirim United got a penalty kick and scored their second goal through Alister Costa. Novowado got many chances to equalise but Unjirim goalkeeper Dylan Sardinha came up great saves. Anthony Fernandes of Novowado equalised in the 45th minute.
In the tie-breaker, Novowado proved to be better shooters.
Anthony Fernandes of Novowado Sporting Club was adjudged as man-of-the-match.
