CANACONA, AUG 23
Cocktail and Dreams Palolem United won the 7-a-side Canacona taluka one-day football tournament organized by Maxem Boys on Sunday. In the finals, Palolem defeated Unique Boys, Agonda 2-0. Cavin Lobo scored both goals for Palolem United.
In all, 24 teams participated.
Palolem were richer by Rs. 6,000 while Unique Boys had to be content with Rs. 3,000. Earlier, in the semis, Palolem defeated Agonda Boys 3-2 via the tie-breaker while Unique Boys trounced Challenger Boys of Pedem-Loliem 3-2 via the tie-breaker.
Cedri and Savio of Palolem were awarded the best player and best goalkeeper of the tournament prizes respectively while Nirankar Hostel Boys bagged the best disciplined team award.
Daya Pagui, ZP member, Fr. Simon Fernandes, parish priest of Galgibaga church gave away the prizes. Cruz Fernandes welcomed and proposed the vote of thanks.
