MAPUSA, AUG 22
A solitary goal by Valentino Rosario in the 24th minute enabled PVC, Parra to down St Sebastian, Mapusa in GFA’s 3rd Division, at Anjuna Gymkana ground on Sunday.
The match was played like a local derby with both clubs committing countless fouls. The teams were lucky the referee was lenient and only showed four yellow cards. Edwin Barreto, Valerin Rosario and Joaquim Pacheco were booked for PVC whilst Paul Fernandes was the only Sebastian player to be booked.
In the 9th, Joalav Fernandes came close for Sebastian, but the ball went over the bar. At the other end, Joaquim Pacheco’s shot was just wide off the far post.
Sebastain goalkeeper Manuel Veigas came out to make a save in the 24th, but unfortunately for him the ball fell to PVC’s Valentino Rosario who still had some worked to do before tucking home what proved to be the only goal of the match.
Changing over Sebastian came out looking for the equaliser but Parra custodian Clifton Fernandes stood strong.
Early into the second half, PVC felt they should have had a penalty when Safron Araujo was brought down in the box but it was not to be.
Severino Fernandes hit a half volley for Sebastian which came close and minutes later Sebastian had a penalty request turned down. Joalav Fernandes dribbled down the left and crossed. The ball hit a PVC defender on the hand but the referee waved play on, as it did not look intentional.
In the closing stages it was PVC who finished strongest. Brijesh Shirodkar and Vigilito Lobo had good attempts at goal.
At St Anthony’s church ground Siolim, Siolim Sodiem Sports & CA drew 2-2 with Xetrapal SC.
Siolim took the lead through Dylan Noronha in the 11th. His goal was cancelled out by Raju Shirodkar in the 20th and eight minutes later Vaibhav Mayeker put Xetrapal in front. The lead only lasted a minute as Dylan scored his second goal to ensure both teams shared points.
Football Club De Sanquelim came from behind at St Christopher’s ground, Tivim to register a 2-1 win over Youth Sports Club, Covale.
Philino Ratos put Colvale up in the 8th minute. Ismael Suvnar equalised in the 32nd and Millind Rane grabbed the winner four minutes before the end.
