MARGAO: Panchwadi United Sports Club produced a champagne stuff to demolish Chandor Club 6-1 in the Salcete Zone GFA’s 3rd Division League match, at Figureido ground, Curchorem, Wednesday.
Panchwadi led 4-0 at lemon break.
Paxton Gomes was the hero of the day as he struck trice for Panchwadi. The winners dominated and kept their opponents on the back foot for major part of the game.
The start was startling as Panchawadi took off perfectly and surged ahead in the very 5th minute when Paxton slotted past the rival goalkeeper after being fed by Bersel Viegas. Energized by the early lead, Panchawadi virtually toyed the rival weak defence and doubled the lead in the 8th minute when Paxton punished the rival goalkeeper with neat finish.
At the other hand, Chandor was struggling and failed to function as cohesive unit as they hardly tested the rival goalkeeper. In the 24th minute, Paxton register his hat-trick when he punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Samson D’Costa put the issue beyond doubt in the 37th minute when he beat the rival goalkeeper with deft placement.
The second half did not bring any respite to the Chandor as Panchawadi attacked from both the flanks. Chandor, however managed to pull one back through Ivan Pinto in the 60th minute.
Panchawadi later intensified their attacks and spirited midfielder Bersel Veigas inflated the tally in the 73rd minute.
Samson added salt to Chandor’s wounds scoring his brace and Panchawadi’s sixth goal in the 88th minute to seal the match in his side’s favour.
