PANJIM, FEB 16
Reigning national snooker champion Pankaj Advani began his proceedings in national selection tournament for snooker with facile  wins over Shahbaaz Adil Khan and Alok Kumar at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar on Monday.
Firing on all cylinders  from the beginning,  Advani went on to hammer a break of 88 against Khan and three breaks of 83, 89, 68 in the second, third and the fourth frames respectively  to demolish  Khan and  Kumar  by an identical margin of 4-0.
Aditya Mehta and Manan Chandra were the other two players who maintained their winning streaks with two wins each.   While Manan easily accounted for Alok Kumar  and Brijesh Damani, it was Aditya who blazed the green baize against Brijesh Damani  with lethal blows of  53, 73 and 105 in the first  three frames respectively.  A massive effort of 113, the highest so far, by Damani in the fourth however, could not upset the rhythm of this wonderfully skilled lone snooker professional of India as he sprang back to the game with greater determination and wrapped up the next frame to post a 4-1 win.
The third seeded Sourav Kothari had a bad day as he lost both his games against Aditya Mehta and Kamal Chawla.
Inaugurating the meet, the president of Clube Tennis de Gasper Dias, Manoj Caculo  welcomed all the participants including six times world champion  Padmashree  Pankaj Advani and other Arjuna Awardees such as Devendra Joshi and  Alok Kumar and said that the club  would look forward  to arranging this kind of meets  in future under the auspicious of  the newly  formed  Cue  Sports Association of Goa.
